St Basil's Anglican Church - our faith

The Christian Way

What We, Who Trust in God, Profess
Neither the universe as a whole nor planet earth
came to be by chance-plus-time: it is a creation.

We humans are on this planet for a purpose:
to be faithful stewards of its rich diversity and
resources, and to look to one another's interests.
That our all-powerful and all-knowing Creator
is distinct from the universe, including us.

We humans are meant to be morally like our Creator,
our Maker: who is personal, loving, truthful, and just.
We are answerable to our Maker, who will finally hold us to account.
God will do this by a person called Jesus Christ:
crucified by wrongful human judgment,
but raised from death by our Maker to be our judge,
yet also to offer all humans deliverance from divine judgment.

We accept the offer by entrusting ourselves to this Jesus,
turning from self-rule self-trust to a life of trust in,
and obedience to, Christ the risen Lord of all creation.
Promised forgiveness, motivated by his love,
we follow the Christian Way, in the expectation of his promise:
life forever in the renewed creation to come.

The knowledge of our Maker, the true and living God,
is clear to us in the creation he has made,
and in the life, death, and resurrection of
Jesus Christ.

The Bible is God's own interpretation to us of all the above.
